Spring Run 2025 Report
Three-Day Event starting in Alexandria and onward to the Dundaroch Hotel, Pitlochry
The club’s spring outing, held between April 15th to April 18th, was a three-day event. The start was at Alexandria and led along the side of Loch Lomond providing an excellent route to the hotel in Pitlochry. The journey included a stop at the stunning Falls of Dochart at Killin where there was a chance to lunch or snack. The journey from the Falls took us along past lochs Tummel and Tay with some members taking the opportunity to stop at the Queen’s View visitor centre to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Our organisers, Mid Bruce and Meg Sword, selected a picturesque route and kind weather ensured an enjoyable experience.
Members were issued route plans at the starting venue, Antartex Village. This was an ideal place to meet for coffee and breakfast, also a spot of retail therapy for those that had spare boot space! At our destination, the Dundaroch Hotel, there was a warm greeting from Nicola the owner and everyone quickly settled into the comfortable surroundings.
The chosen routes over the three days provided stunning vistas. The roads were relatively quiet and our cars provided a mini rush hour as well as interest due to some of the classic vehicles.
Day two began with a visit to Blair Castle & Gardens, followed by lunch at the Atholl Arms Hotel.
Evening entertainment was provided by our Chairman, Chris Paton, in the form of a very competitive music quiz.
Day three took us to Kirkmichael and a visit to Milford Vintage Engineering in the morning. This proved to be a real hit and had been suggested by Xander, Nicola’s husband, who joined us on our visit. A terrific photo opportunity along with some lovely home baking, tea and coffee.
The afternoon provided Quad Biking, Clay Pigeon shooting, Archery or a visit to the House of Bruar. This also gave a chance to explore Pitlochry for those not participating in the activities.
The Spring Outing provided three days of enjoyment and relaxation. The activites provided something for everyone. For me the pinnacle was Milford Vintage Engineering, it was a real treat to see the work they were doing.
I look forward to future events when we have the chance to get together for more fun.
